Work in The MITRE Corporation's Center for Advanced Aviation System Development (CAASD) to provide systems engineering and analysis support for Air Traffic Management systems. Prior aviation experience is preferred. The position requires strong analytical and problem solving skills as well as excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be self-motivated, willing to learn new things, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively with others. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required.



Key Functions:



Works as part of a team of system engineers, analysts, and Air Traffic Control operational domain experts to help the FAA define and evaluate concepts and automation systems for future air traffic management applications. Applies systems engineering principles and processes to aviation and air traffic control systems and early lifecycle concept engineering/development activities. For example, developing concepts of operation, performing requirements analysis and synthesis, conducting functional analysis and allocation, and performing concept and requirements validation activities related to advanced capabilities that improve the National Airspace System.












Required Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. in Systems Engineering or related engineering degrees (e.g., computer engineering, industrial engineering, engineering management, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering).
- Experience in the practice of systems engineering



Preferred Qualifications:
B.S. or M.S. in Systems Engineering or related engineering degrees (e.g., computer engineering, industrial engineering, engineering management, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering).



- Experience in one or more of the following systems engineering lifecycle


  phases: concept development, requirements engineering, system architecture, 


  system design and development, systems integration.
- Aviation or ATC familiarity or experience.
- FAA program level knowledge methodology or experience is a plus.



Minimum Qualifications:
BS and 3 years related experience.
