Responsibilities:

The Assistant Controller assists the Chief Accounting Officer in directing the Company’s accounting functions. These functions include establishing and maintaining the Company’s accounting principles, practices, and procedures. This role will manage and supervise the corporate accounting team through the monthly and quarterly close process, internal and external reporting and analyses, along with ensuring compliance with SEC and GAAP, as well as Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

This position will serve as business partner to the Chief Accounting Officer in all corporate financial matters. Candidates must be able to convey considerable influence and display excellent intuitive judgment.
 
•Responsible for accurate and timely preparation and filing of the Company’s reporting requirements to lenders and the SEC
•Assist the Corporate Controller to improve operating efficiencies across the company, including but not limited to streamlining key business processes, driving system enhancements and improving staff productivity.
•Ensure controls/infrastucture are in place and operating effectively to meet/support SEC reporting and Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
•Oversees staff of 5 including Accounting, AR & AP functions.
•Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned
• Respond to questions/requests from executives and external auditors 
Required Skills and Knowledge:

•Technical and comprehensive knowledge of all accounting functional areas, including SEC requirements and reporting
•Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
•Proficient with Microsoft Excel software (creating spreadsheets, reports, formulas, etc)
•Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and work in a fast -pace environment
•Ability to adapt to changes easily and assist others to do so
•Practical, results-oriented team builder with superior analytical, project management, and problem-solving skills
•Must have the ability to develop, coach and manage a team composed of various levels of experience and skill sets
•Good problem-solving and analytical skills
•Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in difficult interactions or conflict
•Excellent attendance; ability to work core business hours and as required to meet business needs
•Able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive data
•Solid desktop system skills; effective use of standard Microsoft office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and adept in quickly adapting to use of various business systems and applications
•Proven attention to detail and excellent organization skill
•Ability to successfully perform function with minimum supervision
 

 
Physical Requirements:
Job is in a busy standard office environment with moderate noise level, sits at a desk during assigned office hours, uses office phone system; views a computer monitor, types on a keyboard and uses a mouse.
•Sit approximately 85% of the day
•Stand/walk approximately 15% of the day
•Occasionally lift/carry/push/pull up to 10lbs.
•Consistently viewing a computer screen and keyboard frequently up to 75% of time
•Communicates frequently on the phone; head-set provided
 
Education and Experience:

Education and Experience:
•Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related discipline required.
•CPA is required.
•8+ years of progressive senior level accounting experience
•2+ years of experience successfully supervising or managing exempt and non-exempt staff
•Public Company experience required. SEC reporting background strongly preferred
•SOX compliance experience



 Other Requirements           

-Must submit to and pass background check. Must not have any Federal or State liens resulting from County, State or Federal tax issues.  Must not have any current defaulted student loans.
-Must be able to pass a criminal background check; must not have any felony convictions or specific misdemeanors.
-Must submit to and pass drug screen.

Performant is a government contractor. Certain client assignments for this position may require submission to and successful outcome of additional background and/or clearances throughout employment with the Company.
