The College of Engineering (CoE) at North Dakota State University (NDSU) invites applications for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor position in the area of Biomedical Engineering, with a focus on development of biochemical sensors for cancer detection, to start in August 2018. This position is part of a cluster hire for the grand challenge initiative of the Center for Engineered Cancer Test Beds (CECTB): https://www.ndsu.edu/grandchallenge. Exceptional candidates with significant prior experience will also be considered for the rank of Associate Professor.

The CoE consists of the following departments: Electrical & Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil & Environmental Engineering, Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering, Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering, and Construction Management & Engineering, each offering ABET accredited degrees, with a combined 75 faculty, and 2,315 undergraduate, 111 Master, and 131 PhD students. The CoE offers a Minor in Biomedical Engineering, and PhD and MS degrees in Biomedical Engineering through a joint collaborative interdisciplinary program with the University of North Dakota (UND). The tenure home for the successful candidate will be in one of the CoE departments, whichever is the best fit. Minimum Qualifications

  • A completed Ph.D. in an engineering or engineering related field with research experience in biomedical engineering or biochemical sensors
  • Specialization in the area of sensors for biomedical applications
  • Evidence of excellent research, including a strong publication record 
  • Evidence of or potential for excellent teaching
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Commitment to working with and teaching diverse groups, including women and minorities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with biochemical sensor development, especially as related to cancer detection 
  • Undergraduate and graduate teaching experience
  • Evidence of successful grant writing and research funding
  • Industry experience
