Job Highlights


The MITRE Corporation Intelligence Integration Department is looking for two interns (Undergraduate OR Graduate) to work with interagency partners primarily on the subjects of Terrorism Prevention (TP) and Homegrown Violent Extremism (HVE) in the United States.


The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated security or regional studies graduate or undergraduate student with demonstrated experience working across various U.S. government departments and agencies providing policy analysis and assessment, program management, and related expertise to assist the government with planning, coordination and integration on CVE, CT, and other Homeland Security issues.


You will be a member of a collaborative team providing support, advice, and assessments to the Intelligence Community (IC) and other U.S. government customers, working on topics related to CT policy, homeland security, and law enforcement information sharing.


This internship will be approximately eight weeks of full-time paid work. Start date preferably in June but negotiable. 


Key Functions


This is a high visibility, high profile position requiring interaction with senior US government professional officers, subject matter experts, and leaders.


- This role requires independent open source research, product development, and briefings to US government sponsors on CVE and HVE case studies and CT strategies and assessments.


-This role requires extensive interaction and collaboration with relevant subject matter experts from across the IC and other US government departments and agencies, and use information and insights gained to support outreach, coordination, and integration activities across whole of government.



Required Qualifications: 

  • Education: Currently enrolled full-time and working towards undergraduate de (for Undergrad level internship) or Graduate level studies (for Graduate level internship) in one of the following: National Security, Security Studies, Area Studies, Political Science, Statistics, Counterterrorism, Conflict Analysis, CVE or equivalent degree.

  • Demonstrated experience working with the U.S. government in forums that support counterterrorism or related national security initiatives   

  • Knowledge of strategy development, policy planning, and/or strategic assessments on CVE, counterterrorism, or other national security topics

  • Ability to conduct open source research and work in a self-motivated fashion 

  • Outstanding written and oral communications skills and proven ability to convey complex ideas to others in a concise and clear manner, especially to senior government audiences. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Counterterrorism domain experience

  • Middle East domain experience

  • IC and/or government experience with a proven track record of on-time, high-quality delivery of your work products.
