Data Quality Analyst

Data is the force behind exciting transformation at Sainsbury’s. Every day, we’re harnessing the power of data and analytics to change the game in retail. We’re devoted to doing the right thing for our customers, our people and our suppliers, and better use of data helps us to innovate and improve in all kinds of ways. With our brand new Data & Analytics Centre of Excellence, we’re becoming a leader in the field. As a Data Quality Analyst, you’ll go on a journey of discovery.

We’ll rely on you to drive and deliver improvements in data quality, so that our analytics and insight become stronger than ever. It’s all about logical problem solving. Day to day, you’ll work with a huge variety of different types of data. You’ll investigate issues, understand causes and carry out corrections, as well as supporting monitoring and reporting of data quality. Crucially, you’ll liaise directly with stakeholders and business users  to support them with data quality issues.

Getting involved with data at the beginning of the analytical process, you’ll be integral to changing the game. Analytical teams will rely on you to make sure they get the right data at the right time. They’ll be working on a vast variety of projects - from helping farmers rear cattle using intelligent agriculture, through to getting the best products into stores to suit customer tastes in specific parts of the country. You'll help us to make differences that are visible in stores and across our business.

Along the way, you’ll build relationships with end users of data in diverse departments, and develop skills in a host of different problem solving methods. What’s more, you’ll gain exposure to a range of data roles, in one of the UK’s most exciting commercial organisations. From the role of data governance in defining policies, to how data definition supports consistent business rules, you’re sure to find a career path that inspires and rewards you.

So what are we looking for? A naturally inquisitive individual with a keen eye for detail, you’ll probably have a degree in something like computer science. You’ll certainly demonstrate a real appetite for all things data, and a proven flair for solving problems logically. Ideally, you’ll be familiar with SQL, but experience of any programmed language will be an advantage. Whether collaborating with a colleague or explaining a technical topic to a someone who is not at all ‘techy’, your communication skills really set you apart.
