Description: Description About the Position: Fulfill engineering design and project management responsibilities of the Project Engineering & Design division of Gas Systems Engineering.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
· Liaison with State and municipality agencies to stay abreast of their construction plans
· Analyze impact of public works activity on gas facilities and work to minimize a appropriate and/or identify opportunities to leverage infrastructure replacements

· Develop gas systems designs for pipeline, bridge/highway/waterway crossings, and regulator, including City/State construction, that reflect scopes aligned with system and customer requirements. · Incorporate applicable Standards, Procedures, and State/Federal statutory requirements into Gas systems designs.

· Incorporate corporate process safety procedures into the project work flow as required.

· Develop project estimates, within accuracy requirements.

· Identify required material and associated lead times and delivery terms. · Develop and gain approval of project scope, cost estimate and schedule.

· Prepare project documentation, including corporate sanctioning paper where required. · Enter project information into the project work management and financial systems.

· Identify and acquire the necessary permits, licenses, and land rights associated with the project.

· Working with others in Gas Operations and Gas Engineering, develop engineering and operations procedures to support the engineering and design of gas facilities in accordance with company and regulatory requirements including all safety, health and environmental standards and procedures.

· Working with the Maps and Records department to ensure that system maps and records are available, and of sufficient accuracy, to support Gas systems designs. Identify where mapping differs from as-built conditions and provide input to rectify variances.

· Assist Codes and Standards Engineers with the evaluation of company engineering design standards, to ensure alignment with regulatory requirements.

· As may be required, participate or lead inter-regional projects activities. This may require travel to our upstate and / or downstate

New York


service territories.

· Participate in Storm restoration activities or other system emergencies (gas and electric) as call upon.
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required:
· A Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (preferred Civil Engineering) and at least 2 years of engineering, design and project management experience. · Understanding of design and construction standards, engineering drawings, and underground construction methods and procedures.

· Commitment Safety as a core value. Strong knowledge of OSHA, PHMSA, and MA and RI regulations.

· Technical knowledge of natural gas system design and operations including natural gas industry codes and regulations, engineering and environmental codes and standards.

· Project management experience on medium to large scale capital construction projects is a plus.

· Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects within budget and time constraints.

· Ability to assess project scopes and identify required variances prior to design to ensure a complete, high quality and safe project outcome.

· Demonstration of a high level of personal initiative and ability to interact with a diverse group of company personnel, contractors, regulatory representatives, and town/city officials in a positive collaborative manner.

· Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively both internally and externally to the organization.

· Ability to utilize project estimating tools and undertake analysis using such tools to provide written reports identifying causes for variation and possible corrective measures.

· Proficiency with PC software applications including the Microsoft Office suite. Familiarity with work management applications such as Maximo and Power Plant is a plus.

· Must have a valid driver’s license
