This role provides the vision, planning and implementation for the organization’s data needs and will manage the DataOps team made up of both contract and full time employees. This role applies extensive knowledge of data requirements in a financial services environment along with data architecture and modeling expertise to provide and promote a new master data platform. The data architecture defines and optimizes the use of enterprise master data, market data and reference data assets by driving improvements to quality, optimized usage, improving business processes and standardization.

 

In this role, you’ll outline strategic data requirements and designs while aligning with enterprise strategy and business requirements. You’ll drive consensus and understanding through diagrams showing key data entities and relationships and build an inventory of the data needed to implement the data vision. You’ll set the roadmap and drive towards milestones leveraging your well-developed leadership, communication, and collaboration skills. You set a direction a drive towards it decisively.

 

Overall, this position requires a highly motivated, strategic and independent leader who can synthesize new “hybrid” methods focused on delivering value to Business stakeholders.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leadership for the overall Data Platform including vision, strategy, and communication
  • Ability to conceive and portray the big data picture
  • Responsible for internal client satisfaction with DataOps efficacy
  • Manage and develop staff of analysts, data architects, and database engineers / administrators
  • Ability to map the systems and interfaces used to manage data, set standards for data management, analyze current state and conceive desired state capabilities, as well as initiatives needed to close the gap between current state and future state goals
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies, like Artificial Intelligence, NoSQL, predictive analytics, data visualization, and unstructured data
  • Develop and refine financial services based data models for enterprise integration. Establish and enforce relevant standards and processes
  • Participate in the development of policies, procedures, standards and controls.

 

Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • 7+ years of experience in a technical role in a financial services organization, preferably in an asset manager
  • 5+ years of people management and coaching of a data management team
  • Deep hands-on experience with Hadoop, the Hortonworks suite, and MarkitEDM
  • Experience with AI/machine learning; passion for developing a machine learning program and discipline
  • Thorough knowledge of conceptual and logical data modeling and familiarity with physical database design and optimization concepts
  • Proven ability to write well-formed, clear documentation and hold presentations for large groups
  • Highly evolved meeting management and presentation skills
  • Enthusiasm for driving a business case and translating technical, multi-layered projects for non-technical users
  • Expert level knowledge and experiences in data design / data modeling
  • Financial services experience required
