Old Dominion University (ODU) is seeking applications for the next Executive Director of The Frank Reidy Research Center for Bioelectrics. The successful applicant will have a strong record of funded research in the general field of Bioelectrics, which includes biology, engineering and biomedical engineering, as well as proven expertise as an educator and mentor and be qualified for appointment to the rank of tenured Associate or Full Professor. A competitive start-up package will be provided. The Executive Director reports to the Vice President for Research and has an academic appointment in one of the University’s Colleges.

The Frank Reidy Research Center for Bioelectrics is an interdisciplinary, department-like University Research Center, composed of approximately 75 members, including seventeen tenured/tenure-track and research faculty, trained in the fields of biomedicine and engineering. Currently active research programs total nearly $6 million and focus on Cancer Therapeutics, Cardiopulmonary Disease, fundamental mechanisms of Cell and Tissue Electromodulation, Plasma Bioengineering and Pulse Power Engineering. Center faculty enjoy productive collaborations with faculty in the Colleges of Engineering, Sciences and Health Sciences, as well as with the neighboring Eastern Virginia Medical School.

The Center occupies new laboratories equipped with state of the art core equipment. An AALAC-certified vivarium is located within the same building. Founded in 1930, ODU is a public, metropolitan University that enrolls nearly 25,000 students in seven Colleges, employs >800 tenure/tenure-track faculty and has annual research expenditures of >$70 million.
