Full-time position available starting April 2017.  Looking for an electrical engineer with FPGA design and implementation experience ideally in the area of digital signal processing algorithms in radio frequency (RF) signal analysis and communications.  Candidates must have good knowledge and experience with FPGA digital signal processing implementation and applications in at least one of the following areas, RF communication systems, RF signal collection and analysis systems and RF communications electronic warfare systems.  The candidate should have a Master's degree in a relevant field. In addition to technical skills, candidate should display strong leadership skills, ability to work in a team, and to self-direct on an individual basis.  Experience in program oversight or contract development is preferred by not required.

The initial work assignment would include implementing customized transceiver algorithms with VHDL on FPGA platforms for specific tactical applications.  Additional work would include developing schematics for the hardware implementation, collaborating with colleagues, coordinating with customers and vendors, and rigorous testing in both laboratory and field environments. Other duties include project task and system documentation, and communication with other project staff and project directors to ensure that projects are efficiently executed and provide research and testing products that best meet customers’ needs.

Successful candidates will be expected to engage in project work, project leadership and business development activities as directed by supervisors.  Strong communication and leadership skills are highly desired in addition to strong technical competence.

The basic responsibilities include:

  • FPGA design, implementation and testing
  • Conduct laboratory and field test experiments of hardware and communication systems
  • Present results and demonstrations to customers

Required skills include:

  • Strong familiarity with FPGA design, implementation and testing tools
  • Strong knowledge of digital signal processing algorithms for RF communication systems, RF signal collection and analysis systems and RF communications electronic warfare systems
  • Strong coordination, organization, teaming and communication abilities
  • Ability to work well individually or in a group setting
  • Ability to effectively present technical information

Preferred skills include:

  • VHDL, Vivado
  • MATLAB, C/C++, LabView, GNU Radio
  • Altium
  • Familiarity with Linux and open source tools
  • Active DOD clearance is preferred

The projects are based in 250 14th St, NW, Atlanta, on the Georgia Tech campus. Some travel will be required in deploying and testing communication networks and in other duties.

Candidate must be a US citizen eligible for a security clearance. An active clearance is not required at time of application.
