Intern - Geographic Information Systems R&D Graduate Summer

We are seeking an Intern \- Geographic Information Systems R&D Graduate Summer\.

The successful candidate will be responsible for development of Geographic Information Systems/Resource Assessment for deployment of attached algae cultivation systems for decontamination of agricultural runoff couple to biomass production for generation of renewable commodities\. Performance of modeling tasks incorporating data from diverse sources \(USGS, NOAA, USDA, etc\) is required\. Proficiency in computational techniques with applications to engineered riverine systems and water runoff problems is preferred\. The successful candidate will generate protocols, logs and other documents for assessing outcomes\. The candidate will present findings at group meetings and present at a poster session at the end of the summer internship session\.


You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Earned bachelor's degree

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time \(or scheduled to graduate in the spring\) in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program

+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0

+ Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer

+ To be eligible for this position, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States of America\. Sandia will not sponsor work authorization for this position\.

**Additional Requirements**

+ Undergraduate degree in chemical, civil, environmental or related engineering program\.

+ Current enrollment in related Master's or Ph\.D\. program\.


+ Experience with topics related to environmental microbiology, bioremediation, and marine, riverine, or groundwater systems preferred\.

+ Experience in dessert southwest ecologies desired\.

Department Description:

The Biomass Science and Conversion Technology department is dedicated to developing and advancing innovative technologies for producing the next generation of biofuels\. Security Clearance:

This position does not currently require a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted security clearance\.

Sandia will conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record checks, and employment and education verifications\. Further, employees in New Mexico must pass a U\.S\. Air Force background screen for access to the work site\.
