The Weapon Controllers II Department seeks an experienced versatile, self\-motivated, team\-oriented student\. The successful candidate will have responsibilities in more than one functional area\. The Departments primary function is developing, building, modifying, repairing, and maintaining electronic subsystems that manage the arming and fuzing functions in Weapon Controllers\.



On any given day, you may be called on to:



+ Work with engineers in developing, building, modifying, repairing, and maintaining electronic subsystems that manage the arming and fuzing functions in Weapon Controllers

+ Work in the areas of electronics, instrumentation, and testing

+ Conduct experiments and acquire data using various instruments

+ Run tests using NI LabVIEW and TestStand software

+ Analyze data and recommend modifications to components and test procedures to meet desired requirements



Required:



You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:



+ Currently attending and enrolled full time \(or scheduled to graduate in the spring\) in an accredited undergraduate program

+ Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major

+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0

+ Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer

+ U\.S\. citizenship

Department Description:



The NW Controllers and Surveillance Department is responsible for the design, development and support of electronic subsystems that manage the arming and fuzing functions for the nation's nuclear deterrent\. The department specializes in analog and digital circuit design, as well as the integrating software to control and test real\-time embedded systems\. The department is also responsible for the on\-going surveillance activities required to maintain the active stockpiles arming and fuzing electronic sub\-systems\.

Security Clearance:



Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.



Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\.
