The MITRE Systems Engineering Technical Center has immediate opportunities for Systems Security Engineers (SSE) to advance and provide cutting edge systems security and cyber security engineering services to the Precision Fires Rocket and Missile Systems (PFRMS) Project Office and to the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).

Lead Security Engineer will be directly involved with the following:

  • IEEE 15288 Systems Engineering processes and aligning NIST SP 800-160 Systems Security Engineering (SSE) considerations for the PFRMS weapon systems. Working in concert with the program office systems engineer you will elicit security operational requirements and apply governing policies to form a Trusted System and Network concept; will determine the security environment(s) to define protections; will perform risk based assessments to help the program office determine the highest priority cybersecurity threats & mitigations; and will ensure enumeration of the security requirements into the programs development cycle.

  • Resilient systems security engineering for the Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) missile defense system.  Working in concert with the development teams for each GMD component, and serving as the technical advisor to the GMD cybersecurity lead engineer, you will help identify cybersecurity resiliency requirements and help oversee their implementation over the acquisition cycle.  You will help GMD leadership approach cybersecurity using a systems security engineering based approach leveraging NIST SP 800-160 Volume 1 and the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, ensuring the highest priority capabilities are satisfied in the solution set.  You will also serve as technical advisor to help refine tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) to help create a more efficient and effective Computer Network Defense (CND) operation supporting GMD.  You will help be involved in recommending cybersecurity test objectives, helping to write cybersecurity test plans, and analyzing test results in order to make data based recommendations back to GMD leadership.  The GMD role will also serve as the cybersecurity task lead for all MITRE GMD cybersecurity support.
Our Lead Security Engineers will help the program craft a viable cybersecurity strategy.
