Manager, Communications and Information Management

Sandia National Labs is looking for an energetic and motivated Communications and Information Management Manager to oversee all communications for Sandias California site, including serving as a strategic advisor to leadership, fostering staff development, and innovating to keep communications current and fresh\.The Communications and Information Management Manager will exercise independent judgment and discretion on a daily basis, as well as coordinate with the larger Sandia corporate communications organization in New Mexico to develop and deploy strategies that support the mission of the Labs\.



The Communications and Information Management Manager will oversee a team of approximately 17 employees and will be responsible for all aspects of managing this team, including employee recruitment, selection, training, work assignments, recognition, and performance management\.



Primary duties include:



+ Develop and implement strategic division/site/corporate communications to various customers at all levels of the organization, including division executive leadership\.



In coordination with the corporate communications team, oversee the creation and delivery of critical and timely communications to the Sandia California and division workforce on multiple channels including _Sandia Lab News_ , Sandias official social media channels, internal blogs, and digital kiosks\.



Oversee media and community relations for Sandia's California site\.



Plan external engagements representing Sandia in the California community, often collaborating with government relations and protocol\.



Provide strategic program\-based communications support to Division 8000 line customers\.



Build and nurture robust technical writing and information management capabilities in California to support current and future technical programs\.



Become intimately familiar with key customers current and future resource needs based on learned programmatic knowledge\.



Plan, oversee, and manage California Creative Services, including interfaces with external resources and subcontractors\.



Manage Sandia Californias Emergency Public Information responsibilities\.



Understand the work of the organization and connect the work and expertise of the organization with potential beneficiaries, collaborators, and customers\.



Promote excellence by managing and coordinating specific deliverables, overall program and project plans, budgets, structures, schedules, and staffing requirements\.



Ensure that customer needs are satisfied through the creation of trust\-based relationships\.



Apply organization knowledge and experience to independently judge work quality, performance, and alignment of results with customer expectations\.



Oversee and manage members of the workforce, within the organization, including hiring, professional development, and assessment and performance management, consistent with mission of the organization\.

Demonstrated ability to deliver results, effectively manage people, and guide multidisciplinary teams\. Ability to mentor and lead the organization on department tasks and organizational goals and objects\. Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion on multiple tasks\. Ability to work with sensitive information and classified matter



Required:



+ Bachelor's, master's, or doctorate in relevant discipline and eight or more years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience\.

+ Two or more years of demonstrated leadership experience\.



Desired:



+ Previous management experience in the communication or public relation field\.

+ Experience in communications or journalism as a writer or editor\.

+ Experience in developing media relations content\.

+ Experience in providing strategic communications to executive management\.

+ Experience at other Department of Energy \(DOE\) sites\.

Security Clearance:



Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
