The S&H (Safety and Health) Manager is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and executing the safety and occupational health components of personnel, materials, equipment, and working environments. Manager pursues, and implements the most superior safety plans and training systems for the Company and its Clients. Relative to numerous regulatory influences, Manager performs internal/external audits and executes corrective actions towards comprehensive compliance assurance. 


  • Medical Management (HAZ Mat Surveillance, Respiratory, Workers Comp & Off Duty).
  • Perform critical New Employee on boarding and orientation duties.
  • Investigation, reporting, and reviewing findings from all near miss reports, accident investigations, facilities inspections, or environmental testing results.
  • Claims filing and ongoing claims management.
  • Interface with Risk Control, Captive Insurance, and all Client/Disposal Partner ES&H Representatives.
  • Enforces and improves upon all current policies, regulations, and unique industrial process rules.
  • Conducts and/or coordinates worker training in areas governed by OSHA, DOT, and other governing agencies.
  • Peer review of all safety programs for adequacy, compliance, and improvement opportunity.
  • Directly provides best in class, preferably hand on, training around critical subject matter; Confined Space, HAZWOPER, First Aid & CPR, DOT Hazardous.
  • Materials, OSHA 10 Hour, Client Specific.
  • Recommends process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards. 
  • Drug and Alcohol Policy Co-Administration.
  • External Auditing (Disposal Partner and Client Services).
  • Internal Auditing (Field Projects, Truck Terminals, Wastewater Treatment Facilities). 
  • Building and Transportation Security Liaison.
  • SPCC and other forms of Emergency Response.
  • Membership Affiliation and Ongoing Trainer Education.
  • Co -Administration of E Logs and fleet technologies and database systems.
  • Expansion upon Occupational Clinic relationship and service profiling.
  • Assigned Integration Duties per New Business Unit Acquisitions.
  • Serves as the employee responsible for ensuring that corporate programs and procedures are understood and being implemented at each facility.  These include but are not limited to:
    • Net Suite review and reporting.
    • RCA for significant environmental events.
    • Industrial Hygiene monitoring and chemical characterization.
    • Assist the Director of Environmental and Manager of Transportation for CES with preparation of training materials and coordination of weekly and monthly safety themes, completion of incident reports and generation of monthly statistics.
    • Attend and teach training courses in the field of all relevant environmental tasks.
    • Ensures that the CES group stay current with regulations including local and federal changes.
Additional responsibilities as assigned by Supervisor


  • Bachelor of Science in science (biology, chemistry, environmental science, occupational health and safety) or engineering (environmental, chemical, mechanical, industrial hygiene etc.) or similar degree preferred.
  • Word processing, database, spreadsheet and power point skills. Knowledge of OSHA, ANSI, ASME and NPPA, DOT regulations, Clean Water Act and RCRA requirements.


  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as safety and/or environmental professional responsible for compliance in the area of OSHA, ANSI, ASME NFPA, DOT standards.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read, write and speak in English.  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety and environmental rules, operating and maintenance instructions, Code of Federal regulation, OSHA regulations and other consensus standards, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  Excellent statistical and analytical skills
