Understanding that a robust electric and gas distribution andtransmission system is necessary to deliver clean and economical energy to ourcustomers, National Grid is implementing technologies on our networks that willallow us to meet our future energy challenges. This position is within our NESSolutions Development team, which focuses on developing ideas from the conceptstage into detailed project proposals. This team is also responsible formanaging those proposals through regulatory processes for funding, andproviding support as the project transitions to the Solutions Delivery team forimplementation. You will lead a team of professionals that drivecustomer-oriented business models and strategies for energy efficiency, demandresponse, distributed generation, energy storage, alternative fuel vehicles andconnected homes that are aligned with overall customer and corporate strategiesand meet the evolving needs of National Grid’s diverse customers andcommunities.
Position Responsibilities(including but not limited to): Strategy development for a wide range of technology-based projects focusing on peak energy reduction at both grid and customer-scale. Collaborate across many internal and external stakeholders to enable project managers to develop holistic solutions. Development of tariffs / rates and other recovery or funding mechanisms in collaboration with various internal and external partners. Development of business cases, value propositions, and programs for new product/service proposals, including business case s to National Grid and its customers. Provide strategic organizational direction and develop long-range plans that impact development of new products and services for customers. Provides consulting and recommendations to senior management on strategies for future customer offerings that are aligned with and support Company’s Growth Playbook and Utility of the Future. Conducts high level reviews of project charters and work plans, confirming appropriateness of project approach and that cross-functional work streams have been included to facilitate success in the delivery of project/program. Co-Lead regulatory proceedings and filings, and testify at hearings as needed, across all jurisdictions in order to support the realization of the National Grid’s objectives. Utilize the results of research and demonstration projects to evolve the customer value propositions and strategies. Initiate demonstration projects to accelerate the adoption of renewables, storage, AFV, and other DER technologies, services and business models to evaluate different hypothesis and customer value propositions. Review and contribute to relevant internal policies and positions in collaboration with other teams, departments, and functions. Create and maintain effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders in order to build and maintain long-term emerging markets strategy.
Qualifications
Knowledge & Experience Required: A Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or related science, a Master’s degree in engineering or business administration, and 8+ years of related work experience is desired OR in lieu of degree(s), equivalent work experience required. Deep knowledge of industry trends and innovation occurring in emerging markets, including distributed generation. storage, alternative fuel vehicles, smart cities and connected homes is highly desirable, Working knowledge of relevant existing and proposed regulation, legislation, and policy (state, regional, and national) and familiarity with related business processes is preferable. Manage a multi –disciplined team of professionals (minimum 5) that include engineers and project managers with a focus on a broad range of innovative solution development across technology fields.
