OUR ENGINEERING TEAM

NORESCO’s Engineering Group is responsible for identifying energy savings opportunities for large commercial and institutional facilities Our Engineering team’s primary focus is to analyze current energy systems and consumption and to make recommendations for energy upgrades necessary to decrease overall energy usage and costs.

We have an immediate need for a Manager of Wastewater and Water Engineering located along the east coast.


You’ll be responsible for managing a group of engineers in the development of wastewater and water energy conservation measures for Performance Contracts (ESPC) in municipal, large institutional and industrial treatment facilities. You’ll initially support business development initiatives by conducting audits to identify and quantify energy and resource conservation opportunities associated with upgrades to treatment processes. Responsibilities will include site investigations, performing energy savings calculations, developing cost estimates and written descriptions of energy conservation measures in support of ESPC proposals and technical audits. During the Investment Grade Audit (IGA) phase you will manage external environmental consulting engineers in developing conceptual drawing packages and will prepare subcontractor Request for Proposals (RFP) for bidding. During the implementation phase you will provide engineering support for NORESCO’s in-house construction team. As business grows, you will be responsible to hire, train, mentor and manage wastewater treatment engineers.

Substantial knowledge of wastewater and water treatment plant processes is required, including large pumping systems, aeration systems, anaerobic digestion systems, digester gas processing systems, sludge drying systems, disinfection systems and variable speed drives and controls.


In order to be successful in this position, you will need to perform the following tasks.

  • Direct a team of engineers in the efficient development of energy conservation measures for performance contracts.
  • Analyze utility bill data to determine customer energy performance parameters.
  • Identify and quantify energy conservation opportunities associated with wastewater and water treatment plant processes for ESPC projects.
  • Ability to write scopes of work for wastewater and water treatment plant process upgrades for subcontractor bidding.
  • Perform technical presentations of energy reduction opportunities at oral presentations to customers.
  • Write detailed energy conservation measure descriptions to be included in proposal submissions including EMS sequences of operation.

Qualifications In order to be considered for this position, you will need to have the following minimum requirements.

  • BS in Mechanical, Chemical or Environmental Engineering or equivalent with10-years’ experience in energy and process engineering analysis.
  • Prior experience in the following: management of internal engineering resources or external consultants for an ESPC contractor; developing energy conservation measures for ESPC; developing EMS control strategies to reduce energy consumption; developing detailed cost estimates for mechanical process systems
  • Experience writing, reviewing and optimizing control sequences of operation to control process energy consumption.
  • PE license required.
  • Proficient in MS Office software, excellent oral and written communication skills and prior experience dealing with customers.
