This position is a technician resource to support Sensitech’s manufacturing activities of cellular products in the Redmond production facility, as well as product operations, QA/Technical services and technical support, as needed. Primarily focused in investigating issues and providing analysis on on-going production issues, in a timely manner. The position will interact closely with the appropriate sustaining leads to validate, support and troubleshoot automation equipment, software tools, and order fulfillment processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides sustaining and manufacturing engineering support for internal/external based manufacturing operations.
  • Where assigned, troubleshoots, creates, and maintains the required processes and procedures to manufacture Sensitech’s electronic products including testing procedures, operator instructions, and training as required; This position works closely with operations personnel to support the manufacturing processes and may require travel for off-site locations
  • Develops/maintains/tests required assembly and test fixtures, documentation, and performs product reliability testing as directed
  • Supports the new product development process and existing/released products as required, with:
    • Electronic component level troubleshooting and characterization capabilities
    • Significant knowledge/familiarity with GPS, AGPS, and cellular location technologies
    • Hand assembly and rework skills in Surface Mount Technology
    • Highly proficient in the use of complex lab instruments and equipment (DVM, Oscilloscopes, RF Power Meters, Spectrum Analyzers, Data BUS Analyzers, Data Acquisition Units, temperature Chambers, etc.)
    • CDMA 1X, and gpsOne
    • Knowledge of testing and safe handling of lithium based secondary battery technologies, specifically lithium Ion and lithium polymer based battery packs
    • RF/Wireless hardware & protocol experience/knowledge with ISM band (and other) wireless data devices and networks (Zigbee, WiFi, Bluetooth, NFC, Cellular)
    • Resolving product and production related issues with GSM/GPRS location tracking, light and temperature sensor monitoring, and gpsOne™ assisted location-position technology products
  • Participates in field testing of alpha and beta units
  • Supports assembly, test, process control, and associated internal and external documentation
  • Participates and/or coordinates continuous process /product improvement and cost reduction initiatives along with other tasks as assigned
  • Prevents revenue loss by improving the companies’ ability to find issues currently being backlogged due to resource constraints
  • Employee will be tasked with tuning and maintaining automated order fulfillment system to reduce production costs due to inefficiencies in existing systems
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualification:
  • Background in electronics sustaining process and new product development
  • Experience with GSM/GPRS/Global Quad band, SMS and TCP command and TCP/IP, GPS Tracking/Accelerometers
  • Experience with light and temperature sensors
  • Experience with RF/wireless hardware and network protocols associated with Zigbee, Bluetooth, WiFi, NFC, and cellular data is HIGHLY desired
  • Must possess excellent communication (verbal, written, listening) and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work alone or on teams that may be located remotely
  • Must be self-motivated with a high desire for results and be able to work with little supervision
  • Up to 10% travel – both domestic and international

Education:
  • ASEE with 5 years of experience or 10+ years relevant practical ‘hands on’ experience with wireless electronics
