Working under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing various maintenance and repair work. Typically, the Maintenance Mechanic's principle duties include the inspection and maintenance work required for rotating machinery and mobile equipment.

The Maintenance Mechanic may inspect and adjust, as necessary, the mechanical alignment, balance, level, and general condition of pumps, fans, and other rotating equipment throughout the plant and as required, check, repair, adjust, or replace couplings, bearings, and mounts.

The Maintenance Mechanic performs preventive maintenance tasks including routine vibration tests and will actively participate in the periodic tear down and internal inspection of major equipment.
The Maintenance Mechanic uses various shop equipment in the performance of his/her assigned tasks, such as the repair or rebuilding of sootblower drives, gearboxes, speed reducers, pumps, and other assemblies.

To qualify, you must have at least one 1 (1) year experience in the repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment and a High School Diploma/GED.  

Formal technical or apprenticeship training is desired.

The mechanic must be able to read blueprints and drawings.

Strong leadership and motivational skills, ability to stay alert while sitting for long periods of time, work in close quarters and confined spaces, climb ladders and structures, tolerate heights, tolerate high temperatures, and lift up to 50 pounds is also required.
