As a Mechanical Test Engineer, you will be responsible for the mechanical testing and failure analysis of next generation wearable medical devices. You will work closely with the engineering team on bring up and verification as well as development of new tests and product requirements.

Our team combines expertise in biology, chemistry, physics, medicine, engineering, computer science, and more to create interventions that exponentially improve patient care. We partner with leading life sciences, medical device and government organizations to enable fast development, meaningful advances, and deployment at scale. Our work spans many projects, including Project Baseline, the quest to map human health beginning with a 10,000 person observational study; Liftware, stabilizing utensil handles to aid individuals with hand tremor or limited mobility; and Debug, an effort to eradicate mosquito-borne disease with Sterile Insect Technique.   • Work with design engineers on testing components, subsystems, and systems.
  • Conceptualize and develop new test methods and requirements, including custom fixtures and equipment. Write test protocols, test reports, and perform statistical data analysis.
  • Work with design and manufacturing teams to evaluate and troubleshoot all stages of development, from early conceptual prototypes through production transfer.
  • Collaborate with systems test engineers on higher level functional and standards testing.


Minimum qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in testing and failure analysis of mechanical/electromechanical devices, such as medical devices or consumer electronics, including test development/protocol creation.
  • Experience with wide range of mechanical/electromechanical test equipment (such as force gages, leak testers, shock/impact/vibration testing, environmental chambers etc.).
  • Experience with SolidWorks and CAD design of fixtures.


Preferred Qualifications

  • MS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5 years of industry experience.
  • Experience with medical device R&D working in a regulated environment.
  • Experience developing small medical devices and/or high volume wearable/consumer electronics is desired.
  • Ability to interact cross-functionally with electronic hardware and firmware teams.
  • Familiarity with variety of industry test standards such as IEC 60601, IEC 60068, IPX, etc.
