The Power Transmission System division of UTAS ES in Rome NY is looking for a Project Engineer. As a Project Engineer you will report directly to the Project Engineering Supervisor in Rome, NY. You will be directly responsible for the success of your projects both technically and meeting customer-requested delivery dates. Customer may include external or internal, such as Program Managers.

Essential responsibilities include:

  • Overall responsibility for new product development program as the single technical focal point

  • Assume primary responsibility for program leadership, execution, and customer technical contact

  • Work with Program Managers, Contracts, and Operations to ensure the project is successful

  • Work with Design Engineering for detailed design analysis

  • Successfully manage programs within program schedule and budget

  • Collaborate with a wide variety of functional areas inside and outside the organization to deliver program results responsive to customer needs and market opportunities

  • Plan, organize and control assigned activity from conceptual to final stages of product life cycle to optimize profit and meet growth objectives

  • Make final decisions on issues affecting projects




Qualification:

Basic qualifications include:

  • BS in Engineering and 2+ years’ related experience

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Proficient Engineering technical skills, analytical capabilities and overall good engineering judgment

  • Experience leading without authority

  • Track record for personal accountability, focused on results

  • Experience in the following areas:

    • Using risk management tools

    • Creating MS Project schedules

    • Running an Integrated Product Team (IPT) meeting or equivalent

Preferred qualifications include:

  • SAP knowledge

  • Design to cost knowledge

  • Experience with TeamCenter

  • Experience modeling and drawing in NX or other CAD software

  • Basic understanding of the theory of metal fatigue

  • Experience in composite structure design or manufacturing


Working environment:

  • Travel required

  • Willingness to work nonstandard hours

  • Flexible working arrangements available, but subject to managerial approval
