R&D Electrical Engineering Lead (Experienced)

We are seeking a R&D S&E, Electrical Engineer to become part of the NM Stockpile Systems Engineering team in Organization 2224 as our Electrical Lead\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Support our stockpile systems through leading change in the surveillance of our high\-priority component and material evaluation efforts, and provide design agency engineering support for the production agencies\.

+ As the Systems point of contact, team with Military Liaison to resolve filed issues, manage Limited Life Components, and direct weapon system assessments of critical electrical components\.

+ Develop internal interfaces and relationships with component, quality, design definition, test and evaluation, computational simulation, and independent assessment organizations

Additionally, there will be opportunities to lead technical efforts supporting various flight test programs including Joint Test Assembly \(JTA\) Refreshes or Extended Navy Test Bed effort\.

Important external interfaces include our National Nuclear Security Administration, DoD customers, Los Alamos National Laboratory, DoD contractors, as well as the Kansas City National Security Campus \(KCNSC\) and Pantex Production Plants\.


+ Bachelors and advanced degree \(Masters or PhD\) in Electrical Engineering \(or other closely related engineering discipline\)

+ Two years relevant experience


+ Experience in support of nuclear weapons engineering

+ Prior experience with DOE partners, such as NNSA, DOD, or other national laboratories

+ Active US DOE Q\-level security clearance

Department Description:

Systems engineering responsibilities for the US Navy W76\-0/Mk4 and W88/Mk5 SLBM\-based nuclear weapon systems, to help assure they remain safe, secure, reliable and of the highest performance as the underlying basis of the US nuclear deterrent capability\. We provide engineering support for the life\-cycle of the weapons, including maintenance, logistics, refurbishment, surveillance, special studies, testing, analysis and assessment\. We also provide engineering support to the W76\-1 Life Extension Program \(LEP\) and to the UK for the Trident Weapon System and advanced technology programs\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.
