R&D S&E, Qualification Engineer (Experienced)

We are seeking an experienced electronics, mechanical, or systems engineer to join a multidisciplinary team in designing and developing advanced electronic subsystems\. The successful candidate will be responsible for the qualification program for these subsystems\. The qualification program will encompass qualification to mechanical, electrical, and environmental requirements\. The engineer will work as part of a multi\-disciplinary team whose task will be to map design requirements, create and implement the qualification program, work with our quality engineer to implement quality methods into the qualification program, evaluate prototypes, test subsystems, support full\-up system integration testing, and document results\.


+ Bachelors and Masters Degrees in a STEM discipline

+ A minimum of 5 years of work experience related to the qualification of high reliability components to military\-type requirements is required for this position\. Candidates with a Bachelors Degree will be considered if they have a minimum of 7 years of experience in qualification of electronic components to high reliability standards\.

+ The ability to create innovative solutions to difficult technical problems\.

+ Demonstrated ability to work in team\-oriented environment and work cooperatively with other internal organizations, as well as external production facilities and suppliers\.

+ A DOE Q clearance or equivalent Top Secret DoD clearance is required\.

+ Ability to travel, as some travel will be required\.


+ Experience working with the Doors requirements tool

+ Experience with project planning tools such as MS Project or preferably Oracle P6

+ Previous work experience at Sandia or within the NNSA complex

+ Previous experience in security or use control subsystems

+ Project management skills

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance to start\.
