The UTC Re-Empower Program helps support talented and committed professionals as they rebuild their capabilities, enhance leadership skills, and continue their professional journey. Over the course of the 16-week program, experienced professionals will gain paid, on-the-job experience, have an opportunity to participate in sessions with leadership, develop personalized plans for success and receive coaching to guide their return to work experience. Upon completion of the program, based on performance, Re-Empower participants may have an opportunity to convert to a full-time role.
The first cohort of the UTC Re-Empower Program will run from January 22, 2018 – May 11, 2018.


We are seeking an RF Design Engineer to join our R&D team developing a new generation of wireless sensing, monitoring and control systems for commercial and military aircraft. Specific responsibilities include RF board design, including radio transceiver, receive and transmit path components and planar patch antennas.

Experience with RF design and test tools and modelling software is required. Familiarity with embedded systems software and hardware development is a plus. The candidate must be comfortable creating specifications and rapidly prototyping to grow the design maturity while requirements may evolve. A major part of the job is to interact and cooperate with other electrical, software and systems engineers to develop new system architectures that best address a wide range of future product needs.


This ideal candidate possesses an innovative and curious mind and motivated to experiment with new solutions for complex problems. We are seeking a talented and motivated engineer with an enthusiastic attitude, capable of self-directed work. We expect that not all of the required technical qualifications may be equally developed in a single candidate, but a solid mix of most of these skills is strongly desired, combined with an ability and willingness to learn and to acquire new skills.


Qualification: •RF circuit design, analysis and testing
•Antenna design, shielding and packaging
•PCB assembly and debugging with RF test equipment.
•Strong analytical skills and expertise with one or more RF circuit modeling tools
•Background in system modeling and simulation highly desired
•Familiarity with low-power wireless device design a strong plus
•Working knowledge of 802.11 or 802.15.4 protocols a strong plus




Education: Minimum Program Qualifications
To qualify for the UTC Re-Empower Program, candidates should:
  • Currently be on a voluntary break of at least two years or more
  • Have a minimum of five years of professional work experience
  • Have an interest in returning to work in a full-time position
  • Have an ability to attend the Re-Empower Program Orientation at UTC Headquarters in Farmington, CT on January 22 – January 24, 2018
MS or PhD in Electrical, RF or a related field with 2-5 years of relevant work experience
OR
BS in Electrical, RF or a related field with 7 years of relevant experience
