Security Professional (Entry/Mid-Career)

This is one of several Security Professional \(Job Title: Information Security Specialist\) positions needed at the Sandia National Laboratories site in Livermore, CA\. These are not Information Technology \(IT\) positions dealing with cyber concerns\. These positions are instead focused on the protection of classified and sensitive information\. Based on the needs of Sandia the position may be assigned to one or more of several areas to include: Operational Security \(OPSEC\), Security Awareness, Classified Matter Protection and Control \(CMPC\), Performance Assurance, or as an Embedded Security Professional\. OPSEC assists in identifying and protecting critical information through education and awareness activities along with identifying vulnerabilities and recommending protection strategies\. Security Awareness motivates and instills a high level of security awareness in all members of the workforce so they know their responsibilities concerning the protection of information and assets\. CMPC delineates and communicates security requirements for the protection and control of information and matter required to be classified or programmatically controlled by statutes or DOE Directives\. Performance Assurance ensures classified and sensitive material and matter are protected according to DOE requirements by conducting periodic programmatic assessments\. Embedded Security Professionals work directly with various departments to provide a full range of security solutions and ensure the successful protection of all security assets in their assigned area\.



Required:



Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline plus entry level experience \(up to two years\); or Master's degree in relevant discipline; or equivalent combination of education and experience\.



Desired:



Experience working as a security professional at a DOE or DOD facility with knowledge in one or more security areas including CMPC, Classification, Information Security, Personnel Security, Performance Assurance, Physical Security, OPSEC or Protective Force\. Experience as a Law Enforcement Officer or Intelligence Professional with a federal, state, or local agency or in the US Military and/or experience in teaching, training or another instructional field\.



Department Description:



Sandia Security Operations \(SECOPS\) protects people and assets to ensure mission success\. SECOPS has responsibility for Physical Security, Classification, Classified Matter Protection and Control \(CMPC\), Operations Security \(OPSEC\), Security Awareness, the Security Incident Management Program \(SIMP\) and Emergency Management\. SECOPS oversees Site Visitor Control and manages a 24/7 Protective Force\.

Security Clearance:



Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.



Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance, which requires U\.S\. citizenship\.
