As Pratt & Whitney expands its market base, it is imperative that the company's technical and management team continue to develop the most advanced aero compressor, turbine, combustor, internal air systems and exhaust systems to power aircraft today and into the future. The Combustor aero thermal fluids group at Pratt & Whitney is at the forefront of ing the latest tools to the design of the next generation military and commercial platforms such as the Joint Strike Fighter, Geared Turbofan, Adaptive Cycle Engines, and their derivatives and is looking for candidates who are interested in becoming part of the team to develop these propulsion systems.

Join a highly skilled multi-disciplinary team of engineers leading the industry in the engine design for new product and fielded product combustor applications. The range of responsibilities will include all aspects of the aerothermal design, analysis and testing of combustors and the interactions it has at the system level including operability, performance, durability and thermal systems management. The successful candidate for this application will need to have learned or has passion to learn the challenging detailed 3D aero thermal combustor design which can lead to leadership opportunities within the organization to support a wide range of engineering analyses, simulation development, and applications. Successful candidates must also have excellent written and oral communication skills to operate in a leadership capacity for technical problem resolution and sharing this knowledge and recommended strategy with senior engineering leadership up to and including the VP.


Qualification: Required Qualifications

MS degree or PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 2-5 years of successful combustion aerothermal design experience (including emissions control, fuel/air mixing, thermal analysis, combustion dynamics, fuel systems design, operability design, application of CFD) in the aerospace industry

Preferred Qualifications

Competent in one or more of the following engineering disciplines: thermodynamics, gas dynamics, aerodynamics, combustion, acoustics, statistics, and CFD design application. A working knowledge and practical experience with either aircraft design methods or propulsion system design is required. Strong communication, analytical skills, teaming skills, and the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment is required.
