PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

The Compensation Controlling Organization is part of the Global Compensation Center of Expertise (CoE) within the Finance & Administration (F&A) Board Area, which is responsible for the end to end revenue generating variable pay processes. This position will report to the Director of Compensation Controlling.

 

The Senior Compensation Controlling position will be a member of the team responsible for globally defining, calculating, analyzing and simplifying the end-to-end revenue generating bonus expense line item. Given the criticality of this line item to the SAP Group P&L, the ideal candidate must possess the required experience but should be coupled with the ability to drive improvements and change that allow operational excellence while ensuring compliance with statutory and audit (e.g. SOX) standards.

 

Responsibilities include analyzing revenues and costs, preparing, reporting and analyzing trends to accurately accrue and forecast SAP’s largest P&L line item. This strategic position has large exposure, requiring close communication and coordination Regional Finance/Controlling, Record to Report Team, Local Chief Accountants, Total Rewards, HR and cross-functional Senior and Executive Management.

 

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

  • Gain comprehensive knowledge of the Annual Go To Market of SAP Sales and Services Sales Line of Business and the corresponding quota crediting policies
  • Understand compensation plans and mechanics of calculations
  • Define, simulate, and analyze current & future compensation expense in all relevant systems
  • Simplify business processes that result in efficient and accurate financials
  • Actively collaborate with regional & global business partners to ensure shared knowledge and ideas in changing business environments
  • Analyze P&L and Balance Sheet
  • Drive to improve and coordinate annual reconciliation of bonus expense and capitalization
  • Effectively communicate with various levels of management and back office support organizations
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and analysis as requested by management

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • BS degree, CPA or MBA preferred
  • Proficiency in an accounting software and/or ERP application, SAP knowledge
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office products
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate within and outside of immediate operational department

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Previous Finance and/or Accounting experience required
  • Sales compensation at SAP experience a plus
  • Strong Excel skills
  • 5+ years of experence
