The GTRI Robotics and Autonomous Systems Division is looking for a graduate in robotics, computer science, electrical engineering, or related fields specializing in software design for robotic applications. The position entails the development of robotic planning and vision software development for agile robotics. You will be joining a growing robotics division, and responsibilities may include implementing new and innovative algorithms, rapid prototyping, and software engineering.


This opportunity is within the Aerospace, Transportation and Advanced Systems Lab (ATAS). ATAS conducts research for government and industry customers in industrial robotics, medical robotics, unmanned systems, aerodynamics, radar and weapons systems, food processing technology, and modeling of social systems. http://www.gtri.gatech.edu/atas


Position Summary:

We are looking for strong candidates who are self-motivated, have extensive, demonstrated C/C++ programming skills, follow software engineering best practices and a have strong mathematical foundation and problem-solving skills. Prior experience in the development and/or implementation of robotic software focused in one of the following areas is required:

  • Logic based planning systems
  • Path planning and navigation
  • Optimal control and estimation
  • Robotic arm and manipulator control
  • Software engineering processes
  • Learning systems
  • Robotic architectures

The position will involve the generation of research reports, publications, proposals, and briefs to customers, requiring excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience with the Robot Operating System (ROS), databases, and in integrating and deploying robotics algorithms for real-time operation on a robot in real world environments is a plus.
