Software Systems Engineer (Experienced)

Albuquerque, NM

We are seeking a Software Systems Engineer to join our team\. The selected individual will work with the Data Management Team in the development of a new High Performance Computing \(HPC\) data transfer tool that will be used within the DOE complex to transfer data locally as well as externally\.

The successful candidate will:

+ Have a minimum of 15 years of development experience in Hiracheal Storage Management software, specifically High Performance Storage System \(HPSS\)

+ Have a clear understanding of data transfer tools within HPC

+ Be able to work in a team environment as well as independently

+ Be a self starter


+ Requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline plus five years of experience; or a master's degree in a relevant discipline plus two years of experience; or a doctorate in a relevant discipline; or equivalent experience \(a minimum of 13 years of relevant experience required to qualify without a relevant degree\)\.

+ Configuration management software

+ Writing design documents

+ Writing and using test plans

+ Formal and informal reviews

+ Gathering requirements

+ Documentation

+ Testing on Linux, Windows, MAC

+ At least ten years experience programming in C and Java

+ Troubleshooting reported issues

+ HPC Environment \(storage libraries, etc\.\)

+ Designing and querying databases

+ One or more scripting languages


+ Knowledge of Data Transfer Tools

+ Subversion and/or GitHub

+ QT Cross\-platform Development Software

Department Description:

The Scientific Computing Systems Department provides centralized corporate resources including Terascale computer systems, high performance file systems, long term data storage, and full system management and operations services\. The department personnel routinely integrate new compute and storage resources onto various corporate or program specific networks, ensure compliance with and generate custom security plans and environments, and through partnerships with the Sandia Program Management Units set and enforces policies for priority and allocations of Institutional Computing platforms\.Growth areas include exploration of advanced architecture computer platforms, high security environments, non\-traditional computing systems serving Informatics or Emulytics or Big Data needs\. Staff members engage in independent research as well as the maintenance and operations work of systems administration on some of the largest computer systems in the world\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.
