Solutions Architect (Experienced)

We are seeking a Solutions Architect

On any given day, you may:

Participate in scrum planning meetings, daily stand\-ups, sprint and iteration demos\.

Develop a new regression test suite using SeLion, Selenium or Mercurial\.

Team with other computer scientists, engineers or solutions architects to identify and implement solutions to software problems with our current software application\.

Interface directly with Government customers and/or end users to address/capture their needs\.

Provide customer support by helping users with how to use the application, troubleshooting issues, or identifying/fixing critical defects\.

Engage with solution architects to update the existing roadmap to a future state for the IT environment\.

Learn a new skill via mentoring, self\-study, or formal training courses\.


Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Mathematics or other relevant discipline plus 5 or more years of experience; or a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Mathematics or other relevant discipline plus 8 or more years of experience in software design, development and testing using Java, C/C\+\+, or C\# including proficiency in objected\-oriented design and development\.

Experience, skills and familiarity with modern software development methodologies, practices, and tools\.

Experience in software regression suite test methods and tools including writing and executing test procedures\.

Active DOE/DOD/SCI clearance\.


Demonstrated ability to develop and communicate ideas and results in oral and written form\.

Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment\.

Experience interfacing with Government customers and/or contractors\.

Department Description:

SMP Technology Exploration \(Department 6351\) conducts program development activities for Systems Mission Engineering\. We focus on applied research and tailored solutions to solve real\-world technology problems for IC and DoD customers\. The departments current focus is on emergent integrated sensing and communication systems supporting critical missions\. We are seeking a potential candidate to join our Integration and Test \(I&T\) team\. Team members work directly with our Government customer and contractors to address application or test issues, as well as other Sandia staff located in Livermore, CA\.

We are looking for a candidate with strong software design and development skills and experience, with the ability to think broadly and deeply in the design and implementation of software regression test techniques\. Our work is guided by industry best practices\. We embrace agile development \(specifically scrum practices\)\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a SCI security clearance to start\.

Position requires an active Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance and SCI clearance or active clearance with another US government agency, e\.g\., DOD and SCI clearance to be considered for this position\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\. Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q\-level security clearance which requires U\.S\. citizenship and SCI clearance, which may require a polygraph test\.
