Pratt & Whitney, a United Technologies Corp. company (NYSE:UTX), is a world leader in the design, manufacture and service of aircraft engines, auxiliary power units and small turbojet propulsion products. The Pratt & Whitney Materials and Processes Engineering (MPE) organization is seeking an engineer to execute light weight and superalloys development, characterization and production implementation in current & future jet engines.

The engineer will plan, execute, conduct and report on technical research and development, as well as support efforts related to turbine engine materials with special emphasis on light weight & Ni-base superalloys for rotating hardware. The candidate is expected to be proficient in the physical and mechanical metallurgy of alloys and associated processes such as ingot casting, conversion, forging, heat treatment, solid state joining and characterization (mechanical, physical & metallographic). The engineer must work closely with other internal engineering disciplines, engineering management and manufacturing customers as part of an Integrated Product Team to ensure successful transition and implementation of alloy technology into Pratt & Whitney’s products. Candidates will also lead elements or entire initiatives to establish next generation materials with unique capabilities for specific applications

The candidate will interface with AFRL, DOD, DOE and NASA customers & lab technical community to seek, secure and execute contracts.Experience with program planning, cost estimation and scheduling in addition to meeting contractual requirements during execution is preferred. The candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and be highly motivated. Responsibilities include benchmarking alloy technology and processes, securing funding, managing projects, and updating engineering standard work.
