Technical Leader - Cyber Security

Location – Dublin, Ireland

Description:

Supports research efforts in cyber security for the electric sector in Europe.  Performs advanced engineering/scientific analysis demonstrating creativity and ingenuity in providing technical solutions and meeting project goals. Works independently and under minimum supervision to resolve technical and logistical issues associated with the development of cyber security technology. Collaborates with EPRI staff, utility members, and equipment manufacturers to execute project plans and develop project deliverables.

Job Functions:

Leads and/or supports EPRI cyber security research projects.  Topics of research may include incident response, threat management, security metrics, security architecture, and security compliance.

May conduct independent field research at the direction of the project manager.

Provides technical advice and counsel to other professionals within EPRI.

Assists Project/Program managers in assessing customer needs, formulating technical approaches, preparing proposals, technical publications/papers.

Reviews progress and evaluates results. Makes changes in methods, design or equipment where necessary.

Exercises latitude in determining technical assignment objectives.

Engages with European electric sector cyber security experts and researchers to identify opportunities for collaboration and to promote EPRI’s cyber security program.

Monitors and/or participates in European and international industry user forums, working groups and cyber security activities such as IEC TC57 WGs, IEEE, CIGRE, etc.

Supports the development of technical and business strategy for Europe.

Preferred Education, Skills, Certifications:

BS degree in EE, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security,

Telecommunications, or similar discipline.

Ideal Candidate:

Five to seven years’ experience supporting cyber security projects.

Knowledge of cyber security fundamentals.  

Knowledge of standard networking protocols.

Ability to acquire and develop cyber security expertise for electric sector technologies.

Strong understanding of the cyber security landscape for the European power delivery sector

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills are required.

Ability to convey technical results effectively to other staff and to clients/members.
