Tenure-Track Assistant Professor Position in Geotechnical Engineering

Position # 002024TT-2018-CEE The University of Windsor's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), in the Faculty of Engineering, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of Geotechnical Engineering, commencing July 1, 2018. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The Faculty of Engineering, with over 1700 undergraduate and over 900 graduate students, is a thriving program within the University with strong connections to the community and industry. CEE offers degree programs in both Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering at the baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral levels. The successful applicant will be expected to teach, conduct research and supervise students at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Civil Engineering, while developing a vigorous externally funded research program. The successful candidate will provide evidence of high quality independent research in one or more of the following areas in geotechnical engineering: infrastructure systems engineering, soil-structure interaction, buried infrastructure, geotechnical engineering for resource development, geoenvironmental engineering, foundation engineering, and risk assessment. The potential to attract external research funding will be considered.

Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree in Civil Engineering and an earned doctorate in Civil Engineering or an equivalent area. Related North American industrial or consulting experience will be considered an asset. Evidence of engaging undergraduate and/or graduate students in research and projects, and the ability to thrive in a cross-disciplinary environment are desired. Registration or eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is required. Applicants who are not licensed to practice engineering in Canada should describe their intended pathway to achieving the P.Eng. designation.

 a statement on your professional licencing status in Canada;

 a research statement outlining research interests and potential for scholarly achievement;

 samples of scholarly writing, including (if applicable) clear indications of your contribution to any jointly authored pieces;

 a teaching dossier or teaching portfolio showing a potential for or evidence of teaching effectiveness and excellence that will include sample course syllabi/outlines, teaching evaluations, and a statement of teaching philosophy and interests (resources and templates for completing a teaching dossier can be found at http://www.uwindsor.ca/ctl/links-pd );

 graduate transcripts; and

 four (4) names and addresses of potential referees who could provide letters of reference.
