Principal Duties

The Purdue Polytechnic transformation requires faculty with both high technical competence and the ability and desire to teach in active classrooms. We are looking for candidates to teach students in our Mechanical Engineering Technology program with strengths in the application of mechanics and materials in advanced and sustainable manufacturing. Expertise in computing in relation to these fields is highly desirable.

In addition to teaching and research, the candidate will be expected to aid in curriculum development for the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Technology programs, providing depth in kinematics, dynamics, and engineering materials. The candidate will need to participate in our graduate program, teaching new and existing classes and mentoring graduate students in funded research.

The candidate is expected to be able to generate fundable research in their chosen field, and to be able to sustainably support graduate students. Particular areas of interest include, but are not limited to, the application of mechanics and/or materials to advanced manufacturing technologies and product development, additive manufacturing, and mechatronic co-design, especially in conjunction with existing initiatives around Robotics and the Internet of Things (RIoT).

The candidate is expected to be able to interface with external clients and to establish relationships through our Office of Engagement with companies looking for ways to engage with our students. This may take the form of mentoring senior capstone teams as well as graduate research.
