Brandeis University seeks to hire a Web Administrator/ Data Systems Specialist to execute the technical components of web and e-communications tools in support of Institutional Advancement (IA), which works to engage alumni, parents and friends to secure the financial support necessary for Brandeis to continue to achieve excellence in teaching, research, and scholarship.

Examples of Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides expertise and serves as Super Administrator for the iModules suite of content management, email marketing, event management, on-line giving, and member- engagement tools. Attend annual conference, keep abreast of all new platform functionality and advise on improvements and new tools. Maintains technical proficiency with Advancement Communications technologies by attending vendor conferences, webinars, classes, and through self-directed study.
  • Support the efforts of the IA technology team, comprised of professional staff from the Offices of Alumni Relations, Development and Advancement Communications, in implementing new and ongoing web initiatives. Maintains existing web page structure and implements page redesigns as directed. Implements the technical aspects of disseminating messaging and content across all web entities maintained by the Advancement Communications group.
  • Trains new staff members on web communication tools and provides "best practice" guidance on web technologies to IA staff. Develops and maintains technical user guides, documentation and operational instructions for IA communications technologies.
  • Represent Advancement Services priorities in collaboration with other IA stakeholders in the development, testing, deployment, operations and maintenance of all advancement communication technologies. Acts as primary contact with third-party web service vendors (iModules,) and Brandeis Information Technology Services group. In partnership with the Millennium system team, develops and operates processes needed to support data transfer and integrity.
  • Provides daily site membership (e.g. end-user) and staff support via email, phone, and in- person. Troubleshoots technical issues and works with vendors to ensure timely resolutions. Communicates technical updates and site maintenance issues to IA staff as needed.
  • In collaboration with IA technology staff, researches new web technologies and advises on innovations in the field and their applications as they relate to the needs of the Institutional Advancement division, including collaborating with IA department heads to develop strategies and plans to enhance client services, improve user effectiveness, recommend practical solutions and foster innovation while meeting the changing needs of users, groups and offices; undertakes new projects and technologies.
  • Develops and provides appropriate and regular analytics on technology platforms to Institutional Advancement team.


  • BS/equivalent plus 3-5 years’ related experience: working with information technology solutions and social media tools that are responsive to user requirements;
  • Customer service/user interaction experience a must;
  • Understanding of systems analysis and software development management;
  • Experience in training and creating instructional materials;
  • Experienced in using spreadsheet and/or database tools to transform and report on data;
  • Strong analytical thinking skills; strong technical problem analysis skills with ability to Concisely and clearly communicate needs to both technical and non-technical staff.
