Anyone with even surface-level understanding of the tech industry knows that Silicon Valley -- that cluster of cities in and around the San Francisco Bay Area -- is the world's home for technology.
However, other North American cities have significant and growing tech economies of their own. What's more, technology is at the heart of some of these cities ranking among the best for job seekers to get the most out of their wages.
According to a new study, the second-best city for tech jobs is Seattle -- no surprise, given the Emerald City is home to Amazon and Microsoft. However, some of the other Top 10 may not be so obvious. Take, for example, the Texas twosome of Austin and the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
The Lone Star State cities are two of the fast-growing hubs for technology in the U.S. and Canada. Both also ranked among CareerCast.com's 10 Best Cities for Return on Salary. The same is true of the Raleigh-Durham area in North Carolina, which ranked No. 7.
