The Audio Product Acoustics group is looking for a technologist to work alongside product teams to prototype and develop audio algorithms & concepts for audio products (e.g. AirPods). This engineer will work closely with the audio design, validation, and software teams to ensure the success of current and future Apple products

Key Qualifications

  • Prototyping and evaluating new audio technologies and products, which will require high level software prototyping and potentially hardware prototyping
  • Validating & user testing audio prototypes
  • MS in Acoustics or related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience
  • Audio prototyping skills (e.g. Matlab)
  • Experience in digital signal processing (inc. adaptive systems), psycho-acoustics and feature validation
  • Knowledge of acoustic transducer fundamentals (speaker and microphone) in the context of headset acoustic system design, as well as associated audio measurement procedures
  • PhD or 7+ years of professional experience
  • High volume consumer electronics experience
  • Experience with statistical analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal skills
  • Phenomenal drive in delivering through on projects
  • History of developing audio prototypes quickly and creatively with hardware & software components
  • You are a self-starter and can work autonomously with high levels of success
  • Is able to apply innovative simple solutions to complex problems

The Audio Systems Engineering team develops and integrates new audio features for Apple's products. Ensuring correct design decisions are taken requires understanding how people react and respond to various ways audio is produced for and presented to them

Education & Experience

Most of our engineers have advanced degrees in Acoustics, Signal Processing, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent field, but if you've followed a different path to expertise in acoustics or sound quality, we still want to hear from you
