Advanced Firing Systems - Lead Electrical Engineer (Experienced)

The Advanced Firing Systems Department \(2624\) is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer for the W80\-4 Firing Set Assembly \(FSA\)\. The successful candidate will join the W80\-4 FSA Product Realization Team \(PRT\) to lead electrical design and qualification activities in support of the PRT and W80\-4 Systems team\. The Lead Electrical Engineer is responsible for developing and evolving the design as requirements evolve and test results from development builds becomes available\. The tasks for this position include:

+ Development and clarification of requirements;
+ Design, development and/or selection of hardware;
+ Test plan development and oversight of execution;
+ Oversight of integrated tester development activities;
+ Analysis of test/analysis data for design performance;
+ Oversight of design definition and documentation;
+ Leading Peer Reviews and electrical aspects of Design Reviews; and
+ Communication of program status and engineering data to the PRT, Sandia management, and key stakeholders\.

The successful candidate will be part of a highly integrated, multi\-disciplinary team across organizational boundaries \(both internal and external to Sandia National Laboratories\)\. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating electrical requirements and needs within the FSA as well as with subcomponents, peer components, Surveillance/Telemetry, Systems, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory \(LLNL\), and the Kansas City National Security Campus \(KCNSC\)\. The individual will need to be self\-motivated and comfortable working in a fast\-paced environment\. Some travel \(up to 20%\) will be required\.

Required:

+ Bachelors and Advanced \(Masters or PhD\) in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or related science, technology, engineering or mathematics \(STEM\) discipline plus at least two years of relevant experience\.
+ Current DOE Q\-Level security clearance\.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain Sigma 15 access\.
+ Experience developing requirements and executing qualification activities for electrical designs through multiple phases of a program\.

Desired:

+ Direct experience designing and developing firing systems, preferably for Nuclear Weapons\.
+ Experience with development activities for Nuclear Weapons Mark Quality hardware\.
+ Experience in one or more of the following: high voltage pulse discharge design, high voltage power supply design, high voltage analog design, and board\-level and/or component level circuit design
+ Experience in one or more of the following: data processing and analysis; signal processing; quality and design processes; and trusted systems
+ Familiarity with the following: flight hardware requirements and qualification; modeling and analysis tools; and electronics and software testing/debugging and data analysis
+ Experience qualifying Product \(e\.g\. populating Requirements Maps, writing Test Plans and reviewing/analyzing test data to verify requirements are being met, etc\)\.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of requirements management and related software \(DOORS, Team Center, or equivalent\)\.
+ Demonstrated ability to negotiate competing requirements to give the best system\-level outcome\.
+ Familiarity with the NW drawing system \(IMS, EAWeb, etc\)\.
+ Experience working with the Kansas City National Security Campus\.

Department Description:

The Advanced Firing Systems Department, 2624, has responsibilities for firing subsystems and terminal protection devices used on U\.S\. Navy and Air Force nuclear weapon systems\. These products must be highly reliable through a suite of environments, including extreme environments, and have critical performance characteristics in high consequence applications\. The department has life\-cycle product responsibility from design and development to qualification and production through monitoring, assessment and disposition\.

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance to start\.
