Job Description

GTRI's Advanced Warfighting Technologies Division in the Advanced Concepts Laboratory seeks qualified candidates for the position of Advanced Warfighting Capabilities Modeling and Simulation Engineer/Scientist. The role of this position is to lead the development of modeling and simulation capabilities oriented around tactical ground maneuver wargaming that potentially includes the effects of chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear effects on the battlefield. This work supports solutions to counter current and emerging threats to address the nexus of technology and asymmetric warfare. The position involves the development/modification of software applications to conduct an operational assessment of advanced warfighting technologies and concepts. Expected duties include:

Code development
Research and evaluation of candidate solutions
Network and data management

Additionally, the position may involve field-based experimental/testing activities. The Advanced Warfighting Technologies Division provides world-class, forward-looking thought leadership and turn-key, best-of-class warfighting technologies focused on countering weapons of mass destruction (CWMD) and changing the future of ground maneuver warfare for U.S. Government and other sponsors.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist II

  • A Masters degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist

  • A Masters degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or 
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline and four (4) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor's degree.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years of professional experience in the modeling and simulation software engineering domain
  • Knowledge of at least two (2) of the following: Python, Java, C++, C#, R
  • Candidate must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with OneSAF and/or other forces simulation environments
  • Experience with Project management
  • 3D graphics
  • Active clearance is desired

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance upon hire
