The vision for the Siri Data organization is to improve Siri by using data as the voice of our customers. Within this organization, the mission of the Search Analytics team is to inform product evolution through deep analysis of the user experience.
You will partner with Search engineering teams to improve search quality and guide feature development with data, to deliver amazing search experiences within Assistant, Safari, Spotlight across iPhone, iPad, HomePod, Mac, Watch, tv.
Key Qualifications
- Strong analytical and product intuition. You are able to use data for guiding development of products and improving user experiences.
- Proven experience with at least one data-querying language (SQL and/or Spark, etc.) as well as with a scripting language for data processing and development (e.g., Python, R, or Scala).
- Capable of driving projects of varying sizes and scopes - some will take months and some weeks - and you will need to know when to dive deep.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills and experience in influencing decisions with information.
- You use good judgment balancing art and science when visually communicating information (e.g. Tableau, Superset, ggplot, D3).
Description
The goal of the Siri Search team is to take search to the next level of intelligence and accuracy using advanced statistical techniques. The Data Scientist role in this team has a spectrum of approaches to improve search, including:
- Build analytic, visualization, and other information products with a drive to automate and scale the insights available to data science and engineering teams.
- Perform exploratory data analyses to enrich our understanding about Siri Search usage and identify new questions to pursue.
- Partner with Product teams to define KPIs and create dashboards to monitor the performance of our Search products. Define the instrumentation required for yielding sufficient data.
- Develop comprehensive knowledge of Siri Search data structures and metrics, advocating for changes where needed for product development.
This position involves communicating with and advocating to a wide audience of engineers, managers and executives to inform decisions on how Search evolves.
The Sr Data Scientist will also mentor other Data Scientists, and help them to develop their projects.
Education & Experience
Prefer advanced degree + 4 years of industry experience, with a focus in quantitative field such as Statistics, Operational Research, Bioinformatics, Economics, Psychology, Computer Science, Sociology, Mathematics, Physics, or similar quantitative field.
