Job Description

The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is looking for an Algorithm Developer who can think outside of the box and doesn’t want to do the same old thing every day. The Georgia Tech Research Institute has opportunities for research engineers within the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Division (ISRD). ISRD’s projects focus on advanced signal processing, adaptive sensor technologies, advanced algorithms, and modeling/simulation. Applications include airborne radar and undersea systems.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related field of study.

Research Engineer/Scientist II

  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related field of study and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related field of study and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related field of study.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Expertise in radar, electromagnetics, signal processing, or applied mathematics
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a research environment where there are many unknowns and undiscovered paths (ambiguity etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a similar related field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Programming in Matlab
  • Experience with/knowledge of:
         o Statistical Signal Processing
         o Electromagnetics
         o Modeling/Simulation
         o Machine Learning
         o Image Processing
         o Control Theory

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
