Job Description

Georgia Tech Research Institutes's (GTRI) Sensors & Electromagnetic Applications Lab (SEAL) is looking for an Algorithm Developer who can think outside of the box and doesn’t want to do the same old thing every day. The Georgia Tech Research Institute has opportunities for research engineers within the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Division (ISRD) of the Sensors and Electromagnetic Applications Laboratory (SEAL). ISRD’s projects focus on advanced signal processing, adaptive sensor technologies, advanced algorithms, and modeling/simulation. Applications include airborne radar, electronic warfare, and undersea systems.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist II

  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related field.

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist

  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related field and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related field and four (4) years of relevant full time experience.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance
  • Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program relevant to this position will be considered. Candidate must have a graduation date of no later than December, 2019.
  • Expertise in radar, electromagnetics, signal processing, or applied mathematics
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a research environment where there are many unknowns and undiscovered paths (ambiguity etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing U.S. security clearance
  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related field
  • Background in radar applications and related algorithms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Programming in Matlab
  • Experience with/knowledge of Statistical Signal Processing, Electromagnetics, Modeling/Simulation, Machine Learning, Image Processing, Control Theory, Image Processing, Optimization Techniques

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
