Job Description

The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is looking for an Algorithm Developer who can think outside of the box and is looking for a dynamic and challenging work environment. GTRI has opportunities for research engineers and scientist within the Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance Division (ISRD). ISRD’s projects focus on advanced signal processing, adaptive sensor technologies, advanced algorithms, and modeling/simulation. Applications include airborne radar, electronic warfare, and undersea systems.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist II

  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related field.

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist

  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related field and nine (9) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related field and four (4) years of relevant full time experience.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  •  
  • Expertise in radar, electromagnetics, signal processing, or applied mathematics
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a research environment where there are many unknowns and undiscovered paths (ambiguity etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing U.S. security clearance
  • Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a similar related field
  • Background in radar applications and related algorithms
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Programming in Matlab
  • Experience with/knowledge of: signal processing, electromagnetics, modeling & simulation, machine learning, image processing, control theory

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
