The Apple Education team helps educational institutions transform their teaching and learning environments while growing top-line revenue for Apple. To realize this goal, we gain a deep understanding of the education sectors we engage with-at all levels from strategic to tactical. We create a vision that inspires educators to transform their classrooms using Apple products. We collaborate closely with internal and external partners to create plans for solutions and new use cases, and then we help drive execution of the solution.

The Apple Professional Services Engineer is a full-time corporate position with Apple for approximately 1 year located in the Columbus, Ohio area. We are seeking an individual with a high-caliber work ethic, proven resourcefulness, the desire and motivation to learn, and passion for teaching others. This role requires proficiency with Mac and iPad, Apple's current deployment models, and Mobile Device Management, along with the ability to coach and mentor others. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leadership and strategic thinking and will need to be willing to work at the customer site and remotely, while collaborating with a geographically dispersed team.

This is an annual support position located in Columbus, Ohio and requires fluency in American Sign Language.

Key Qualifications

  • A broad and deep technical knowledge of Apple products including iOS, MacOS, MacOS Server and all supporting technologies.
  • Ability to see the big picture of customer deployments while diving into the minutia of individual technologies.
  • Ability to act as a "visionary" when providing guidance on delivery direction.
  • Ability to lead in-depth technical troubleshooting and deployment conversations via e-mail, conference calls, whiteboard presentations, and written assessments targeted at Apple engineering, customer, and partner audiences.
  • Working with Apple Project Management to ensure technical quality on all Apple Professional Services engagements delivered by 3rd party providers (3PPs).
  • Ability to aggregate information from multiple sources to formulate a cohesive strategy or direction, and communicate the direction effectively.
  • Possess exemplary interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong writing and project planning experience.
  • Ability to act as an autonomous self-starter that can communicate across companies, organizations, and management levels.
  • Situational management where partner company remediation is required, and reporting rollup to APS Provider Program Manager and project managers.
  • Acting in a technical project management role for large, multi-site customer deployments.

Description

The Apple Professional Services organization provides a strategic differentiation in Apple's direct sales to K-12 and Higher Education institutions across the US. The APS team works to ensure the successful deployment of Apple solutions in our customers' classrooms, both through direct engagement and through management and training of our third-party partners.

This Professional Services Engineer position is part of a larger delivery organization that is specifically responsible for the implementation architecture, installation, configuration, and integration of Apple products into heterogeneous network environments to enhance teaching and learning. This individual will be assigned to a specific school and will work side-by-side with a customer-designated point of contact in a coaching and mentoring capacity to support Mac and iPad deployments. Other areas of focus will include supporting of our partner delivery resources through technical escalation triage, technical delivery resource readiness, regional engagement oversight, and tactical partner management.

General responsibilities include:
Pre and post-deployment customer consulting and issue resolution.
Developing, testing and maintaining MacOS and iOS workflows and profiles, including a baseline build specification for all new devices deployed.
Assisting schools in recognizing areas of concern for their deployments/implementations and providing solutions.
Assisting with the coordination of deployment of Apple hardware, MacOS, MacOS Server, and iOS at school sites.
Coaching customers in their use of Mobile Device Management solutions (MDM) for Mac and iPad.
Working with Apple Project Management to ensure technical quality on all APS engagements.
Assisting in creating scripts and packages to prepare customers for their deployments.
Working as a technical liaison to pre-sales Systems Engineers.
Escalating product issues and communicating customer impact effectively through cross-functional Apple team relationships.
Management of special projects as assigned, including delivering exemplary results that are aligned with organization goals, cross-functional communication, and managing to an aggressive project schedule.
Creation of project (customer-facing) technical documentation.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
  • Experience architecting, deploying, integrating, managing and troubleshooting MacOS and iOS in customer environments.
  • Experience with enterprise-level client and server integration and deployment.
  • Experience with managing Mac and iPad via Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions, including device enrollment, management and preparation for deployment.
  • Professional experience working with wireless networks and/or deploying wireless clients into environments.
  • General familiarity with networking concepts, including troubleshooting wireless infrastructure issues.
  • Experience with direct customer interaction, from either a pre- or post-sales capacity.
  • Experience creating and presenting technical content as a subject matter expert. Experience with Keynote strongly preferred.
  • Experience developing and communicating analytical business reporting.
  • Experience deploying and/or managing Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure preferred.
  • Experience with UNIX shell scripting preferred.
  • Experience with the Apple Volume Purchase Program (VPP) preferred.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills are essential; the successful candidate must excel in written communication and possess excellent in-person support skills.
