MITRE seeks a system security engineer to provide direct engineering support to projects across the Air Force Portfolio and MITRE.  The successful candidate will have strong systems engineering background and demonstrated expertise in applying cybersecurity principles, including many of the following:  Cyber Resiliency, CPI/CC Identification, Anti-Tamper, Supply Chain Risk Management, and Risk Management Framework. This position requires someone with energy, an interest and willingness to learn, familiarity with the DOD acquisition process, and excellent team and communications skills. 



Key Functions: 



  • Bring MITRE Systems Security Engineering and Cyber resources to bear for our customers, by applying the principles of systems security engineering, and cyber resilience to AF programs.

  • Support Critical Program Information (CPI) and Critical Component identification through system and architecture examination, functional decompositions, data flows, interfaces and physical implementations.

  • Promote and apply Cyber Resilience techniques to programs to increase cyber resilience posture.

  • Work as part of a team that collaborates and shares Lessons learned.

  • Apply strong interpersonal skills to work across organizational interests to execute engineering efforts and produce secure systems for our customer












Required Skills:

  • Ability to apply system engineering principles to solve system problems.

  • A working knowledge of the AF PEO structure and system acquisition. 

  • Knowledge of Systems Engineering and system security engineering in the areas of:

    •  Cyber Resilience, 

    • CPI Identification, 

    • Anti-Tamper technologies, and 

    • Risk Management Framework.   
  • Familiarity with the DOD acquisition process.   

  • Strong Communication skills, verbal and written.  
Desired Qualifications:

  • Understanding of security fundamentals.  

  • Knowledge of Cyber Resilience, existing CPI/CC Identification, SCRM, and Anti Tamper process, expectations and planning. Experience with security engineering principles through the entire development processrequirements analysis and decomposition, system design, critical design, implementation, resiliency and verification
Minimum Qualifications:


  • BS and 5 years related experience, or equivalent experience for job needs
