Job Description

GTRI/ICL seeks qualified candidates for a full-time Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure Engineering role in Atlanta, GA. The qualified candidate will be responsible for helping architect, operationalize and maintain the implementation and support of a secure, cloud-based infrastructure.


The project is based in the Centergy Building at 75 Fifth Street NW Atlanta, on the Georgia Tech campus.

Job Duties

The individual in this role will be primarily responsible for the design, installation, configuration, operation, monitoring and maintenance of systems supporting an API driven integration platform that will be deployed in AWS.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Management of Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, or related field of study.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience and background working with AWS services (EC2, S3, etc.)
  • Proficiency with the AWS CLI
  • 3+ years of Unix/ Linux Administration
  • Experience or Strong Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code
  • Familiarity with build & release automation tools and methodologies, like Jenkins, required
  • Experience working closely with development teams to integrate their projects into the production AWS environment and ensure their ongoing support once there
  • Build from the ground up reliable infrastructure services in AWS to deliver highly scalable services
  • Support development and maintain security, backup and redundancy strategies
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills and the ability to work well in a team environment are necessary

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certification (Cloud Practitioner, Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, etc.)
  • Experience with AWS Security: Compliance, Cloud Security Architecture, third party security tools/platforms, encryption/KMS/CloudHSM, IAM policies/roles, etc.
  • Experience with Medicaid Management Information Systems, Health IT standards, policies, and best practices is a strong plus
  • Very strong scripting and automation skills is a plus
  • Experience with Docker a plus

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
