This role is the Business Development Specialist GTM (Go to Market) Strategy Specialist for DDM (Database & Data Management) at SAP.  You will be responsible for the portfolio strategy and GTM for SAP’s HANA and database platforms. You will be working daily with both the product management organizations within SAP as well as the field sales, marketing, COE, and others. You will have a strong responsibility for the commercialization and execution of the strategy globally to achieve the highest revenue possible for the portfolio, while also working on key board area priorities for certain solutions.

This is a new opportunity within the GTM team to be a part of an associate program. You will be one of two employees who are paving the path for a future early talent program on the team. As such, we will be trying new things and will have a very collaborative work paradigm.

Candidates should have a desire to develop the aspects of sales cycle management, including pipeline build, business case development, deal strategy and execution, process improvements and best practices. Your #1 job is to help our field organizations effectively position and justify an investment in SAP in order to delight our customers and gain market-share.

A day in the life!

Every day is a new challenge. Some days you will be working to launch a new solution, other days you may be writing an update for the SAP managing board. But every day you’ll get to implement and execute on ideas which will help SAP reach our business goals!


  • Lead cross-functional, diverse teams through influence
  • Demonstrate ‘design thinking’ principles to lead transformational organizational change as it relates to interest-to-action and accelerated volume sales transactions.
  • Provide leadership and drive the execution. Lead the project team of individuals responsible for launch components
  • Develop clear accountability for goals and tasks, track and evaluate progress


  • Develop and execute a cross functional project plan for commercial and market launch phases
  • Guide efforts to develop local capabilities, enabling market leadership to respond most quickly to growth opportunities
  • Raise awareness regarding bottlenecks and/or barriers to execution arising from challenges. 


  • Understand and leverage best practice programs, tools, methods and processes already available in the regions
  • Identify and prioritize where new processes (net new names, low touch ordering, etc) are required
  • Lead project definition and high speed execution of new processes / policies required to deliver high number of customer transactions 
  • Participate in feedback loop with product development to facilitate continuous product development
  • Synthesize learnings from current activities to amplify existing region efforts or develop new programs to ensure achievement of revenue and market objectives (Best Practice Development)
  • Work with region marketing to improve conversion (interest-to-action) via digital, online, and demand generation activation across Sales and Marketing led efforts.

  • Team player with demonstrated interpersonal skills, able to work collaboratively and effectively with a variety of people and cultures at different organizational levels, both face-to-face and virtually.
  • A desire to be a part of an associate program and learn on the job.
  • BA or BS degree or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of database technologies including relational, columnar, and in-memory a plus. SAP application product experience and /or relevant solutions/LoB experience is a plus. -Analytics experience a plus.
  • Cloud-first. If there is a way to do it in the cloud, you’re thinking that way
  • Business planning, business case development & operational excellence.
  • Ability to navigate in complex landscapes and to build networks; must be able to engage and build liaisons at the executive level.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver project timelines
  • Results driven
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be fluent in English (verbal and written).
