Job Highlights:
Exciting opportunity to apply leading-edge technology to a range of existing and emerging systems as a member of the MITRE-Dayton Weapons System Integration team.   Operational Innovation & Transformation (P413) is looking for an experienced Systems Engineer with a focus on technology bridging, technical transition, early systems engineering, sensor technology, and simulation technology, complemented by a broad understanding of warfighter missions.  This position is located at MITREs Dayton, OH site.  The successful candidate should have experience and expertise in Air Force C2 Systems, systems engineering processes, and a broad range of C2/ISR-related technology areas.  This position will include creating executable project and relationship approaches from high-level visionary strategies, developing and refining system architectures, leading cross-functional engineering teams, and reaching back to MITRE, industry, and academia to provide the highest-quality technical guidance to the government.  This is a challenging position leading fast-paced engineering efforts with complex requirements!

Key Functions: 

Facilitate enterprise level integrated and innovative solutions for emerging systems, and enable improvements to existing systems by providing systems engineering expertise to the spectrum of AFMC and AFLCMC technology and project activities. Identify, develop and apply MITRE and external expertise in systems security engineering, model-based systems engineering, modeling and simulation, operations research, Position, Navigation, and Timing (PNT), communications, networking, sensors, embedded systems, software development, advanced analysis, and project organization that will support the customers efforts to address critical problems.

  • Systems Engineer, assisting in the execution of project planning, staffing, and business management functions.
  •  Perform trade studies and make recommendations on systems of systems concept studies, experimentation, and developmental planning in support of AF acquisition decisions.
  • Technology requirements, applications, and research include assessments of the state of the art, the state of the practice, and technological opportunities.
  • Integrate with the AF simulation and analysis facility team in designing, executing and conducting analyses on systems of systems.
  • Ensure Program Execution (PE), including technical performance analysis and assessment include the continuing verification of anticipated and actual achievement of key technical parameters.
  • Leverage MITRE corporation capabilities and provide technical support and expertise to sponsors on roadmap development, including technology roadmaps.
  • Provide Enterprise Systems Engineering (ESE) leveraging the functions of architecture development, technical and program strategy, and program execution, conduct systems engineering at the enterprise level.


Required Skills:
  • Strong Systems Engineering technical skills
  • Strong project management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience with sensor and PNT systems desired
  • Experience with modeling and simulation systems desired
  • Ability to apply Systems Security Engineering techniques for mission assurance desired
  • Experience with IT, communications and networking systems desired
  • Experience applying emerging technologies to mission/capability gaps and/or programs of record, including technical transition highly desired
  • Experience with AF/DoD systems of record and/or platforms desired
  • Knowledge and/or experience of deployed tactical environment is desired
  • Ability to lead cross-disciplinary, cross-organizational engineering teams
  • Proficiency in conducting analysis and presenting findings to senior leaders
  •  Strong ability and motivation to work across multiple organizations and geographic locations
  • Preferred Qualifications: MS in Systems, Electrical or Communications Engineering

Minimum Education/Experience: 

  • BS and 8 years related experience
