MultiTech is currently seeking a Certifications/Compliance Engineer who will assist in design and development work on new products and support of existing products in reference to global regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee one or more regulatory compliance discipline, i.e. safety, EMC, telecom, wireless/carrier
  • Report product design and reliability issues to QC and Development Engineering
  • Work on projects determined by Director of Product Support or Project Management
  • Determine product definition and specifications of new hardware from a regulatory perspective
  • Obtain agency approvals for both MTS and customer products and follows approval process to ensure consistency
  • Pretest product to ensure it meets specific country agency certification requirements
  • Coordinate approval testing with various laboratories, regulatory agencies or contracted consultants
  • Work with component vendors regarding qualifications and approvals. Once component is sourced, completes in-house verification and testing per design specifications
  • Document country specific standards to which product compliance is required. Also document other standards that may be referenced as part of the country specific standard
  • Track country specific certification rates and use the tracking information as a means to either streamline the process or to provide more realistic timeframes for the time it takes to achieve certification for a specific country
  • Research regulatory compliance, network provider and consumer requirements as they relate to Multi-Tech products
  • Work with OEM customers regarding embedded applications concerning design and regulatory compliance
  • Implement manufacturing production tests to satisfy regulatory certifications
  • Implement documentation changes for regulatory information required in manuals and marketing literature
  • Implement required product labeling for regulatory compliance
  • Provide general support on global regulatory issues
  • Provide design input to CAD and Engineering on compliance requirements
  • Provide design solutions for product regulatory non-compliance
  • Follow through on changes based on Compliance testing, Regulatory testing or customer input that require an ECO change to our internal production or procurement processes
  • Assess and improve incoming inspection processes and procedures
  • Evaluate existing certification processes and provide continuous improvement recommendations
  • Work with peers to obtain project goals
  • Report task status to project manager
  • Translate requirements into a customer specific applications, frequent customer contact may be required
  • Understand customer business and applications requirements; support customers to complete design successfully and to best meet those requirements; leverages resources from Technical Support and MultiTech Engineering to ensure that customer needs are met
  • Define product testing strategy following which will result in demarking the conditions where the product would be functional or not
  • Define test procedures for the implementation of new technologies in the Multi-Tech products
  • Perform functional manual tests for new and existing Multi-Tech products
  • Respond to and resolve all customer, carrier and lab inquiries via phone, e-mail, E-Service portal, etc.
  • Maintain product database regarding product regulatory certification status
  • Maintain regulatory reports and certificates following product lifecycle and document retention requirements
  • Travel both domestically and internationally as needed

Requirements

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 year technical degree in Electrical Technology or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience in relevant regulatory compliance
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant regulatory compliance experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and general office skills
  • Must be able to work individually or as part of a team, have good problem solving skills, detail oriented and be flexible based on job requirements
  • Excellent organizational, telephone, verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt easily to change as well as prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Regulatory compliance experience, i.e. documentation, regulatory standards, listings, and certification schemes
  • A high level of initiative, judgment, and problem-solving abilities and the ability to improvement activities
  • General understanding of the cellular and IP routing features in a WAN environment
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Be proactive and adhere stringently to processes and deliver high levels of quality in a timely manner
  • Should have end-end understanding of Data Networking/Wireless Technologies and Protocols (TCP/IP, SMTP, 802.11, GSM/GPRS, GPS, LTE, WPAN)
  • Must be able to build test automation for functional testing
  • Knowledge and programming experience with languages like C++, Ruby, Perl, VB scripting or Shell scripting
  • Experience in technical hardware development and software coding and familiarity of support tools RF design experience
  • Multi-lingual language skills preferred (i.e. Spanish)
