MITREs infrastructure sustainment team is looking for a Senior AV/VTC Engineer.  We are looking for someone who has extensive experience working within a secure VTC infrastructure.
  • Oversee the installation, operation and maintenance of endpoints, including portable systems within secure environments.
  • Work closely with industry to understand best practices and maintain a pulse of innovations in the networking, voice, and media areas.
  • Coordinate, configure and test various AV/VTC related upgrades in coordination with system & customer requirements.
  • Perform hands-on assessments of capabilities in the voice and media market to determine how these capabilities may work within our existing infrastructure.
  • Develop written products and technical reports that highlight findings and recommendations.
  • Develop prototypes that demonstrate novel solutions to problems.
  • Provide engineering support to a variety of sponsor and research based projects including design, development, integration, and implementation activities in support of Secure VTC environment.
  • Work with Voice Engineering Lead and Media Architect on defining technologies roadmap, as well as service and cost optimization efforts
  • Excellent troubleshooting and repair skills for complex VTC components and systems
  • Expert working knowledge of Hardware and Software integrations of Secure AV/VTC equipment
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or similar field, and 3 years of experience. Candidate must be able to demonstrate an ability to apply advanced principles, theories and concepts comparable to those obtained with a Master's degree in a relevant field of study. Candidate should understand the missions, domains and challenges of MITRE customers. In addition, the candidate understands that he/she will be fully responsible for deliverables-including definition, completion, and technical quality, as well as assuring consistency across the responsibility span.

  • Bachelors Degree in one of the following disciplines IT, Computer or Systems Engineering. The candidate will possess demonstrated ability to provide deliverables or parts of deliverables to customers.
  • CCNA, Security +
  • The candidate must maintain the minimum IA Workforce Qualifications outlined in DOD 8570 for IAT Level II.
  • Familiarity with DoD IA requirements, hardening, and patching (STIGs, IAVA/B, ACAS/HBSS/SCAP)
  • Secret Security Clearance with the ability to be cleared to Top Secret.
  • Minimum 5 years of VTC engineering design, configuration and installation experience.
  • The candidate must have minimum 5 years VTC operations experience with ISDN and IP.
Required Skills:
  • Understands and has a working knowledge of implementing and sustaining large-scale Unified Communications solutions
  • Experience with Video Conferencing technologies
  • Understanding of network protocols such as Domain Name Service (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), IP Routing (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP)
  • Knowledge of common security capabilities such as firewalls, intrusion prevention systems, and full packet capture
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Knowledge of configuring, testing operating, and maintaining video components including: MCUs, Codec, Gatekeepers, Gateways, Border Controllers, TMS, VCS and recorders
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective technical and support documentation for use by engineering and sustainment staff to include design & test plans, implementation plans, and automation plans using standard templates (where existing) or proposing & creating new templates where needed.
  • Ability to review operational metrics and make analytic decisions/recommendations about operational infrastructure performance
  • Ability to engage in analytical troubleshooting and performance analysis work under operational deadlines
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotations and occasional off-hours work to support emergencies and projects
