Seeking a Lead Network Engineer with a strong Linux/Unix foundation. Provide strong technical leadership, applying SDN and DevOps methodologies in support Mitre R&D Lab environments. Use software engineering principles to develop code for IT automation systems. Design and build Linux-based application systems to support software-defined datacenter functions. Ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced, R&D lab environment, perform independent work, as well as work comfortably in team settings.
Impact
Be a key part of the evolution to software-defined data center and networks in Mitre Labs
Directly support active Linux lab environments, working closely with developers to solve problems
Define and build repeatable infrastructure with automation, orchestration, and CM tools
Develop and execute plans for rolling out new technologies
Increase reliability by improving monitoring infrastructure and building out data aggregation and alerting rules
Triage tickets raised by our developers and analysts and implement fixes
Drive collaborative culture through mentoring of operations team members
Produce high quality operational and architecture documents

 


Required Expertise
7+ years work experience and/or BA/BS in Computer Science or Network Engineering or Information Systems
4+ years of Linux systems administration, preferably with Red Hat / Fedora / CentOS distributions
Deep knowledge of TCP/IP and network protocols
DN, NFV tools, design, and implementation: VMWare NSX, Cisco ACI/ISE/IOS, Arista, VXLAN
Automated configuration management and orchestration: Puppet, Ansible, Terraform
Writing code for infrastructure automation and config management: Ansible, Puppet
Hands-on experience with Git for version control


Other Desirable Expertise
Design, build, and operate open source and proprietary cloud architectures: AWS, Azure, Openstack
Familiarity with continuous integration, deployment, testing, and release systems: Maven, Bamboo, Jenkins
Experience with container technologies and orchestration: Docker, Mesos, Kubernetes
Coding skills in a variety of languages: Java, Python, Shell, and C(++)
Use of data analytics technologies: Hadoop, HDFS, Hortonworks HDP, HBase, Hive, Spark
